At the same time, a minor was killed in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, based on information from regional authorities.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on electrical systems over the past few days, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from partner nations to increase pressure on Russia.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 projectiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles struck electrical systems and residential structures in the capital.
